Michael Jackson photographed during the autopsy. The chest cavity has been completely opened and the internal organs have been removed. The cranium has also been opened to remove the brain. The face is actually rolled back approximately halfway down the skull.

According to BBC, his weight was in the acceptable range for a man of his height, but he had punctured arms, and suffered from lung damage and some arthritis. Jackson's most serious health problem was his chronically inflamed lungs, but this was not serious enough to be a contributing factor to his death. The post-mortem examination results were in normal limits.

The autopsy also revealed that he was partially bald, and that his lips, eyebrows and scalp were tattooed. Jackson was bald at the front of his head and had what appeared to be a dark tattoo stretching across his head presumably to hide his baldness.

The coroner also reported that Jackson had depigmentation of the skin around his face, chest, abdomen and arms. The Los Angeles coroner disclosed in August that Propofol and the sedative Lorazepam were the "primary drugs responsible for Mr Jackson's death".

There is a way, ladies and gentlemen, to get yourself aboard an early developers look at Facebook’s new layout, that being the one called Timeline that we were introduced to just yesterday. The process is relatively simple, though you must be warned: its designed to allow developers to see the build early and may not be completely set up to show you exactly what you want to see of yourself – my god, your whole Facebook life, right there! Let’s get started!

First, you must head to the Facebook Developers page at https://developers.facebook.com/ and sign up for an account. This will be the longest portion of your process as you may have to wait for permissions to take effect or for your confirmation numbers to go through. You’ve got to confirm your account with a text message sent to your cell phone, at which point you’ve got to head to step two.

Second, create a new app. To do this you’ve just got to head up to the upper right-hand side of your developer homepage and hit the Create New App button. You’ll have a window pop up with a place for App Display Name and App Namespace. Enter whatever you like and click Continue. There may be a “type this picture” security check at this point – do it and continue.

Third, once you’re in the App Summary for the app you’ve just started creating, find the link in the upper left that’s titled “Open Graph”. You’ll recognize this link from yesterday’s news. Here you’ve got to enter something basic in both text fields, something like Watch and Movie will do fine. Hit “get started.”

Fourth, you’ll be brought back to a page that looks basically like the page you were at before you hit Open Graph. All you’ve got to do here is go to the bottom of the screen and hit “Save Changes and Next”. At this point you wait for a few minutes.

Fifth and finally, head to your own normal Facebook homepage and you’ll hopefully see this little box front and center. Hit “Get it Now” and you’re in!

Mikel Barsa, a Spanish memorabilia collector, is looking to get in on the action. He announced in an interview yesterday that he plans to sell an 8mm copy of a sex tape allegedly featuring the actress, made in the late 1940s, at an August 7 auction for international film collectors. The auction will take place at the Borges Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, with bids starting at $500,000 — though Barsa would like to see the film fetch $1 million.

The black-and-white tape has no sound and supposedly shows the screen icon when she was around 21 years old and still went by the name Norma Jeane Baker. It's advertised as an alternate version of a 16mm film that was bought for $1.2 million in a private sale also brokered by Barsa.

The American actor Ryan Dunn, star of the hit MTV series and film franchise Jackass, was killed in a car crash in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The 34-year-old Dunn, a daredevil who, along with his cast-mates made viewers cringe and snicker through outlandish stunts in the globally successful show, was driving his 2007 Porsche in suburban Philadelphia when it went off the road into the woods and burst into flames.

Police found the vehicle "fully engulfed in flames" upon arrival in a wooded area in the West Goshen Township. An unidentified passenger also died in the crash at 2:38 am local time. A police statement said a "preliminary investigation revealed that speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident".

Dunn appeared on the MTV shows Jackass and Viva La Bam and the three Jackass big-screen adaptations. He also was the star of his own MTV show, Homewrecker, and hosted Proving Ground on the G4 cable network.

Perhaps his most famous stunt, in 2002's Jackass: The Movie, involved inserting a toy car into his rectum and going to an emergency room, where he made up a story that he was in mysterious pain after passing out at a fraternity party. Dunn's X-ray from the hospital became a popular T-shirt with Jackass fans.

In a 2000 stunt, he dived into a tank at a raw sewage plant wearing flippers, a mask and a snorkel.

In a statement, MTV praised Dunn's tireless humour and enthusiasm and said he would be sorely missed. "We are devastated by the tragic loss of Ryan Dunn – a beloved member of the MTV family for more than a decade," said Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music/Films /Logo Group. "The Jackass brotherhood will never be the same."

KABUL—The U.S.-led coalition said Tuesday it had killed Osama Bin Laden, the most-wanted insurgent for the 2001 September 11th attacks. The al Qaeda leader from Saudi Arabia who was the mastermind behind 9/11 and responsible for setting up terrorist training camps and launching attacks on U.S. and Afghan forces.

Although the commander of coalition forces, U.S. Gen. David Petraeus, told reporters earlier this month he doesn't believe al Qaeda is resurging in Afghanistan, some senior U.S. military officers disagree, saying the withdrawals from Nuristan and Kunar have created a vacuum for al Qaeda to come back.

The coalition's Afghanistan target list is classified and the military hasn't released the name of the most-wanted militant. Al Qaeda leaders Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahri are believed to be hiding across the border in Pakistan.

The intelligence gathering and airstrike that led to Osama Bin Laden's death were conducted by the U.S. military's secretive Joint Special Operations Command, known as JSOC, which has taken the lead in targeting al Qaeda in Afghanistan, a U.S. official said. In contrast, the Central Intelligence Agency leads the campaign of drone strikes that has killed numerous al Qaeda operatives sheltering across the border in Pakistan.

Many American officials say JSOC, which oversees elite units such as the Army's Delta Force and Navy SEAL Team Six, is their most effective tool to combat al Qaeda in Afghanistan, where the U.S. has far more freedom to strike than in Pakistan. But they also fear that JSOC, with a global mission and commitments in Somalia, Yemen, Iraq and other places, is already stretched thin.

Still, JSOC has counted a series of recent successes against al Qaeda in northeastern Afghanistan. An airstrike in September killed two senior leaders and other al Qaeda operatives who had gathered at a training camp in Kunar. Special Operations forces in December captured another senior al Qaeda operative, Abu Ikhlas al-Masri, who had long operated in and around Kunar. Mr. al-Masri has since provided intelligence about al Qaeda's attempts to reestablish Afghan bases, U.S. officials say.

A heavy smoker, Higgins sucked his way through as many as 80 Marlboros a day until attempting to quit in 1996. He had cancerous growths removed from his mouth in 1994 and 1996 and was told in 1998 that he had throat cancer.

He also struggled with drug addictions, and recently admitted that he had considered suicide. Higgins was divorced by two wives, Cara and Lynn, and was stopped from seeing his two children, Lauren and Jordan. The squalid end to his life contrasted with the heady days of the 1970s and 1980s. At the height of his fame, Higgins had a £4m fortune which he frittered away on drink, cocaine and gambling.

Group A

France, Mexico, South Africa, Uruguay
Group winners: South Africa, Second Place: France

Group A is one of the weaker groups in 2010 FIFA World Cup and that bodes well for hosts South Africa. South Africa should be strong favorites to win the group by virtue of playing on home soil in front of an army of vuvuzela-blasting fans. The vuvuzela trumpet is a hallmark of African football and the deafening noise should be enough to psychologically effect France, Mexico and Uruguay. South Africa will also be acclimatized to the altitude better than their opponents so look for a very strong first round performance.

Second place is up for grabs with France looking like the most likely candidate. France, winners in 1998, are highly unlikely to progress further than the second round but should secure second spot. Talisman Thierry Henry will be on the bench so this aging French team may struggle to score. That said, they should still be strong enough to beat Mexico and Uruguay. Mexico play well as a team and have some competent players (Franco and Hernandez) and Uruguay feature the mercurial Diego Forlan but both teams will struggle in South Africa.

Group B

Argentina, Greece, Nigeria, South Korea
Group winners: Argentina, Second place: South Korea

Group B should be an easy group for two-time winners Argentina but the Albiceleste were horrible in qualifying and not helped by the tactical naïveté of Diego Maradona. On the bright side, Argentina boast the best footballer in the world, Lionel Messi. The right side of any defense has to be seriously concerned about Messi, has passing is sublime, he can dribble and shoot from anywhere. Perhaps Argentina’s biggest weakness is at the back. The back four hardly inspire confidence but with Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez joining Messi in attack they should score plenty of goals.

South Korea stand a very good chance of finishing second. The Koreans are one of the most athletic and well-disciplined teams in the tournament and they can always be counted on to play hard for 90 minutes. Nigeria have the luxury of playing on African soil which should feel like an advantage but Nigeria lack the caliber of players they possessed ten years ago. The Nigeria-South Korea match will be pivotal in deciding who finished second in the group. Greece, European Champions in 2004, are still coached by King Otto but the lack of depth and defensive tactics may mean they finish
at the bottom of Group B.

Group C

England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
Group winners: England, Second Place: USA

England are one of the favorites to win the World Cup and winning Group C is expected. The loss of former captain David Beckham to an Achilles injury should have no significant impact on a team that boasts Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. The late inclusion of Joe Cole should provide width with Milner also in the reckoning for a starting role. England are solid across the board and with Fabio Capello’s tactical acumen England should have no trouble reaching the Round of 16.

The USA are an athletic side with several European-based players. Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey are always threats to score but the USA may struggle against a powerful England team. Slovenia pulled off a shock by beating Russia in the playoffs so they should not be underestimated and will likely push the USA for second place. Algeria have some young talent but will surely struggle to score.

Group D

Germany, Australia, Ghana, Serbia
Group winners: Germany, Second place: Ghana

In life there are very few certainties: death, taxes and Germany making the final round. They’re missing their captain and best midfielder, Michael Ballack, and that will leave a large gap in central midfield but the Germans are at their best when they’re underdogs. Germany have enough talent (Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Podolski, & Klose) to progress to the quarterfinals and they match up well against Australia and Serbia.

Ghana will be without their star, Chelsea’s Michael Essien, but this may actually bind the team together. Essien is a huge loss but the Ghanaians possess enough skill and speed to cause any defense problems. Australia have brought an aging team to the World Cup and the center backs will struggle to contain speedy strikers. Tim Cahill is Australia’s main goal threat. Serbia could surprise everyone by sneaking into the Round of 16. They thrashed Romania 5-0 in qualifying but a recent loss to New Zealand raises a lot of questions.

Group E

Netherlands, Cameroon, Japan, Denmark
Group winners: Netherlands, Second place: Cameroon

The Netherlands are a force in European football and boast some of the finest players in World. There is no shortage of gifted players but the real test is whether they can perform as a team. With Schneijder, Van Persie, Robben and Kuyt, the Netherlands may score more goals than any other team in the group stage. The Dutch have a great number of weapons in attack the only question will be whether they can defend. A weak qualifying group mean that the Netherlands back four have never really been tested.

Cameroon have some players with European clubs but the entire future of Cameroon’s World Cup lays solely at the feet of Samuel Eto’o. On his day he is the best striker in the world but recent criticism by Cameroonian legend Roger Milla may have effected the sometimes rash and emotional Eto’o. Manager Paul Le Guen is tactically astute and the 4-3-3 formation may dazzle opponents and viewers alike. Japan have an advantage that they are used to high altitude matches and the players have exemplary fitness levels. Nakamura and Honda are their best chances for goals. Denmark are solid defensively (Agger, Poulsen) but may struggle to score.

Group F

Italy, Paraguay, Slovakia, New Zealand
Group winners: Italy, Second place: Paraguay

Reigning champions Italy should easily win Group F. Although they aren’t the force they once were, Italy, under manager Marcelo Lippi, should easily win all three matches and reach the quarterfinals. Francesco Totti is a notable absence and with a strike force of Gilardino and Iaquinta they may struggle in the later rounds. Central defense is also a major concern – Nesta has retired and Cannavaro is 37.

Paraguay finished third in South American qualifying and that speaks for itself. In qualifying Paraguay managed to beat Brazil and Argentina and wins against other Chile and Uruguay prove that Paraguay mean business. They will be difficult to beat and look certain to meet the Netherlands in the Round of 16. Slovakia are in their first World Cup tournament courtesy of a weak qualifying group but its hard to see them progressing. The match against Paraguay will be pivotal in determining second place. New Zealand, despite a heroic 1-0 win against Serbia in a recent friendly, have almost no chance of reaching the Second Round. Perhaps a prematch ‘haka’ will produce another great upset.

Group G

Brazil, Ivory Coast, Portugal, North Korea
Group winners: Brazil (who else!), Second place: Ivory Coast

Perennial favorites Brazil will be looking to improve on their record five World Cup wins and with only one loss in the last 24 matches, Brazil will be favorites to reach the final. Manager Dunga has left the silky skills of Ronaldinho at home which may backfire if Brazil don’t reach the semifinals. A lot of weight will be on the shoulders of Kaka and Robinho to compensate for the loss of El Gaucho.

Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire) have enough talent to reach the final but discipline, a new manager and the ‘Group of Death’ will make it a tall order. Players like Drogba, Kalou and the Toure brothers are world class but the true test will be how they fare together against Brazil and Portugal. Ivory Coast are fully capable of beating Portugal and perhaps Brazil but there will be no room for mistakes with Portugal ready to pounce on a Second Round berth. Portugal are overrated and despite the talents of Cristiano Ronaldo they will likely lose to Brazil and struggle against the pace of Ivory Coast. North Korea have absolutely no chance of progressing but beating Italy in the 1966 World Cup means they are capable of taking a big scalp.

Group H

Spain, Chile, Honduras, Switzerland
Group winners: Spain, Second place: Chile

Euro 2008 champions Spain are favorites to win the 2010 World Cup and they possess both depth and talent at every position. Manager del Bosque should easily win Group H and it would be a great surprise if Spain did not win all three group matches. Spain have three world class goalkeepers, solid defenders, creative midfielders (Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Fabregas) and the most lethal strike partnership in the world (Fernando Torres & David Villa). For Spain not to reach the final would be a great disappointment.

Chile should easily claim second place in Group H with Switzerland and Honduras fighting with an outside chance. Honduras seem the most likely of the teams to get pummeled 6-0 by Spain but they beat Mexico and Jamaica twice in qualifying so no one will be underestimating them. Chile, recently beaten by Honduras, will be looking for revenge and have enough young talent to cause any team problems. Their possession-oriented style of play will be hard to breakdown not to mention they finished second in South American qualifying, one point behind Brazil and five points ahead of Argentina. Switzerland had an easy qualifying group but will likely finish third in the group.

The Internet is always a crazy place. When LiLo does something edgy like holds a gun to her head with her finger on the trigger the blogosphere lights up. Judging by the comments sections of outlets posting this article, it seems public opinion has largely turned against Lindsay Lohan.

The most popular theme is the expected "hurry up and pull the trigger" variety - there was no shortage of people egging Lindsay on with "Do it!" and "I don't think you've got the guts". The worst thing about these comments is that they're just so boring. It's amazing how unoriginal sheep are.

There was some sympathy for Lindsay, with the "this girl needs help" line but they were woefully outnumbered by the "I've got her on my dead pool" crowd. Most of these dead pool commentors must be lying because the Rotten.com Dead Pool only ranks Lindsay at #97 in popular picks. Crackerz33 came up with a gem with "she'd do anything for publicity - including blowing her own head off", which was good because it was funny and cruel at the same time.

Zed took a more scientific look at the gun in the photo "for Christs sake its not in her mouth its on her lips. At worst she'd blow her nose off". NRA member chimed in with "pity the gun, I wouldn't want to be in the hands of something that stupid".

Not much love out there for Lindsay but she's still a fine piece of ass, just a little crazy.

Apple's iPad: First impressions

(AP)A bit more than two months after its splashy product introduction, weeks after the start of an absurd excess of media coverage, and hours after particularly dedicated shoppers began waiting in lines outside stores, Apple's iPad is a $499-and-up product you can pick up in a store, plug in and start using.

What's that like?

The first words that came to mind after switching on a $699, 64-gigabyte model lent by Apple's public relations department were "blank slate." The iPad may work a lot like an iPhone or an iPod touch, but this device's far-larger touchscreen, 9.7 inches across, looks empty compared with those on Apple's smaller devices.

That phrase works as a metaphor for Apple's wireless-enabled tablet as well (the devices shipping today connect only via WiFi; mobile-broadband versions compatible with AT&T Wireless's 3G network are due late this month).

The most dramatic difference surfaces when you try to enter text on an iPad. Compared with an iPhone's on-screen keyboard, the iPad's looks enormous. But in a vertical, portrait orientation, it may be less comfortable than an iPhone's keyboard, since you have to stretch to hit the middle keys with your thumbs. In a horizontal, landscape mode, however, it's just possible to touch-type (with help from auto-correction software that cleans up typos and tries to guess what you'll type next).

Apple says the iPad can run "almost all of" the 150,000-plus applications available for the iPhone and the iPod touch. But that doesn't mean you'd want to. These programs either occupy a small frame at the center of the screen or, if you tap a "2x" button in the corner, are crudely magnified to fill the display. The resulting bitmapped text and blurry images may leave you thinking you need a new eyeglass prescription.

Instead, you'll want to seek out programs that have been written or revised for the iPad (which Apple designates with a small plus sign in the iTunes App Store). Some don't run on the iPhone at all, such as ABC's ABC Player, which streams videos from the network's site (and gets around the iPad not including the Flash payer required by that site); Netflix's self-titled player; and Apple's own iBooks electronic-book reader program.

The last may be the most intriguing program available for the iPad, since it so directly challenges the most popular sort of tablet computer so far: Amazon's Kindle. The free iBooks ships with a copy of A.A. Milne's "Winnie-the-Pooh" that shows off a big iPad advantage compared with the color-deprived Kindle: the ability to display the book's original artwork.

The new iPad-compatible Pandora Web-radio application looks terrific on the iPad's bigger display.

iPad WiFi vs. WiFi 3G

Wondering when you can get your hands on an iPad 3G? (Or if you should spring for it?) We've got answers.

Apple's iPad, which officially hits stores April 3, will be available in a Wi-Fi-only model, as well as a Wi-Fi+3G version.

However, if you're hoping to get the iPad 3G, you'll have to wait until 'late April,' according to Apple (unless you're Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who's already picked up his 3G iPad). Note that the iPad 3G's cellular network connection will be available exclusively through AT&T.

The Best iPad Apps

As with the iPhone, the iPad's usefulness will grow with the thousands of applications that will be available for it.

The iPad comes with an iPhone emulator, so people who already own an iPhone app can copy it to their iPads by syncing the new device with their computers. They won't have to pay a second time. However, those apps might look a bit blurry on the iPad's larger screen. They'll work better in a smaller window about the size of an iPhone.

Applications made specifically for the iPad are also available, with many more in production. Already in the Apps Store are Electronic Arts Scrabble and one from ESPN that shows game scores, video highlights and other sports updates.

Apple is also selling iPad versions of its word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software for $10.

One of the iPad's major selling points is its e-book reader software, which puts the new device in competition with Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle reader. The free iBooks program, which has to be downloaded separately, is also the entryway to Apple's e-book store.

Many upcoming iPad apps are shaping up to be significantly more expensive than their iPhone counterparts. But a quick glance at the just-unveiled iPad app store proves that there are still plenty of enticing freebies to be had. Get a load of the 10 free iPad apps I'm most eager to install.

Netflix: Yep, it's official — Netflix's catalog of streaming movies and TV shows is indeed coming to the iPad, and it's a free service for Netflix subscribers. No word about a version for the iPhone (or at least, not yet).

ABC Player: Free, ad-supported shows from ABC via Wi-Fi, ranging from "Lost" and "Grey's Anatomy" to "Dancing with the Stars" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

NPR for iPad: Follow your favorite shows on National Public Radio with this free, "magazine-style" iPad app, complete with playlist support and an offline reader for text stories.

The Weather Channel Max: Access full-screen, "in-motion" weather maps, breaking video news reports, nationwide weather cams, and (of course) your local forecast.

Tap Tap Radiation: From the makers of the best-selling "Tap Tap Revenge" for iPhone comes this new, iPad-sized rhythm game that "takes users on a visual ride alongside the beats of each track." The first eight tracks (from the likes of Serge Devant, Richard Vission, and Mos Def) are included; for more, though, prepare to pay up.

AIM for iPad: Now with a bigger, three-column view, with your active AIM conversations in one column, your current chat in the middle, and your AIM buddy list on the right.

Dragon Dictation: Can't be bothered to tap out messages? Just fire up Dragon Dictation, tap the red button, and speak; you can then e-mail your musings via a pop-up window or browse previously dictated notes in the left-hand column.

BBC News: Breaking news from the Beeb, complete with tappable photo galleries, full-screen streaming video, and — best of all — no pay wall.

–Gameloft has released eight of its game titles, including Modern Combat: Sandstorm HD; Asphalt 5, and Real Football 2010. Most of the titles have been tweaked for the iPad. NFL Football 2010 ($6.99), for example, was remastered to include high definition-resolution grass surfaces, textures, characters and animations.

How Apple's iPad measures up
iPad vs. Laptop

Apple Inc. says its tablet-style iPad computer represents a whole new category of consumer-electronic devices, ideal for watching videos, surfing the Web and reading electronic books.

Here is how it stacks up:

• iPad vs. laptop

The iPad is easier to stash and carry than most laptops. The device weighs just 1.5 pounds, compared with a few pounds for the typical laptop. At a mere half-inch thick, the iPad is also thinner than most laptops. But with a maximum of 64 gigabytes of storage, the iPad can't hold as many photos, movies and songs. The iPad comes with only a touch-screen keyboard; Apple will sell an add-on dock with a physical keyboard like most laptops have.

• iPad vs. netbook

Smaller laptops known as netbooks use less-powerful chips than regular laptops, and as a result they don't handle video or other processing-intensive tasks well. The iPad uses a new chip that is custom designed by Apple and that CEO Steve Jobs has described as extremely fast.

• iPad vs. smart phones

Browsing the Web, watching video and reading books are more comfortable on a big iPad than a tiny smart phone. The iPad's screen measures 9.7 inches diagonally, nearly three times that of Apple's iPhone, at 3.5 inches. However, while the iPad has a built-in microphone and could work with Internet-based phone services such as Skype, it's not a telephone. And it doesn't fit in your pocket, the way the iPhone does.

• iPad vs. e-readers

Using the iPad's touch screen to buy books and start reading seems fast compared with the navigation required on Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle, which requires pushing physical buttons on the device because it has no touch screen. But the iPad has a glossy screen, so it might not be as easy on the eyes as the Kindle and other e-readers, which generally sport grayscale "electronic-ink" screens that aren't susceptible to glare.

AUSTIN, Texas – Frustrated software engineer Joseph Andrew Stack, furious with the Internal Revenue Service, plowed his small plane into an office building housing nearly 200 federal tax employees on Thursday, officials said, setting off a raging fire that sent workers fleeing as thick plumes of black smoke poured into the air.

A U.S. law official identified the pilot as Joseph Andrew Stack and said investigators were looking at an anti-government message on the Web linked to him. The Web site outlines problems with the IRS and says violence "is the only answer."

Federal law enforcement officials have said they were investigating whether the pilot, who is presumed to have died in the crash, slammed into the Austin building on purpose in an effort to blow up IRS offices. All the officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.

"Violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer," the long note on Stack's Web site reads, citing past problems with the tax-collecting agency.

"I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let's try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well," the note, dated Thursday, reads.

At least one person who worked in the building was unaccounted for and two people were hospitalized, said Austin Fire Department Division Chief Dawn Clopton. She did not have any information about the pilot. About 190 IRS employees work in the building, and IRS spokesman Richard C. Sanford the agency is trying to account for all of its workers.

After the low-flying plane crashed into the building, flames shot out, windows exploded and workers scrambled to safety. Thick smoke billowed out of the second and third stories hours later as fire crews battled the blaze.

"It felt like a bomb blew off," said Peggy Walker, an IRS revenue officer who was sitting at her desk in the building when the plane crashed. "The ceiling caved in and windows blew in. We got up and ran."

In a neighborhood about six miles from the crash site, a home listed as belonging to Stack was on fire earlier Thursday. Two law enforcement officials said Stack had apparently set fire to his home before the suicidal plane flight.

Elbert Hutchins, who lives one house away from the house on a quiet, tree-lined middle class neighborhood, said the house caught fire about 9:15 a.m. He said a woman and her teenage daughter drove up to the house before firefighters arrived.

"They both were very, very distraught," said Hutchins, a retiree who said he didn't know the family well. "'That's our house!' they cried 'That's our house!' "

NBC's coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver has been made slightly more interesting with the buzz about Bob Costas' hair. Is he wearing a wig? Is it some kind of toupee or hairpiece? Or is it just a really bad dye job?

Bob Costas has been on NBC for thirty years and his hair is the darkest it's ever been. His new black hair doesn't match his sideburns or his eyebrows and it never seems to move. With natural hair you can see depth through the strands (skin, scalp) but in his case you can't. Although a dye job is possible it does appear that Bob Costas is wearing a wig.

The 'Bob Costas wears a wig' story started back in 1989 during the Tiananmen Square massacre. Rumors swirled that during coverage of the events a gust of wind blew his wig crooked. To date no footage of the event has surfaced but that has silenced the rumors. The topic is trending on Google Buzz and the Chicago Tribune have run stories about it.

It doesn't really matter whether Bob Costas wears a wig or not but it is amazing how many people have posted questions over the last few days asking the question. Maybe we'll never find out the truth but with the windy conditions in Vancouver it certainly makes the Winter Olympics more interesting.

Malcolm McLaren, an impresario, recording artist and fashion designer who as manager of the Sex Pistols played a decisive role in creating the British punk movement, died on Thursday in Switzerland. He was 64. The cause was mesothelioma, a cancer of the linings around organs.

In a slap in the face to taxpayers, they have also cut back on the money they are lending, even though the need to get credit flowing again was one of the main points used in selling the public the bank bailout. But since April, the Big Four banks -- JP Morgan/Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo -- all of which took billions in taxpayer money, have cut lending to businesses by $100 billion.

Meanwhile, America's Main Street community banks -- the vast majority of which avoided the banquet of greed and corruption that created the toxic economic swamp we are still fighting to get ourselves out of -- are struggling. Many of them have closed down (or been taken over by the FDIC) over the last 12 months. The government policy of protecting the Too Big and Politically Connected to Fail is badly hurting the small banks, which are having a much harder time competing in the financial marketplace. As a result, a system which was already dangerously concentrated at the top has only become more so.

A new report from TMZ about Brittany Murphy's tragic death details a stash of prescription medications found on the late actress's nightstand. Among them were antidepressants, anti-seizure and anti-anxiety meds, and two types of pain relievers.

According to TMZ's source at the LA County Coroner's office, the meds specifically included Topamax (anti-seizure meds, also prevents migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (Diabetes and bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins.

LOS ANGELES – Brittany Murphy, who gained fame in such movies as "8 Mile" and "Just Married" before giving voice to popular animated characters, has died at age 32.

The Los Angeles County coroner's office said her death Sunday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center appeared to be from natural causes but police were investigating.

Murphy was transported to the hospital after the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at 8 a.m. at the home she shared with her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, in the Hollywood Hills. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said Murphy apparently collapsed in the bathroom, and authorities were looking into her medical history.

An official cause of death may not be determined for some time, since toxicology tests will be required, but "it appears to be natural," Winter said. He said an autopsy was planned for Monday or Tuesday.

Her career started in the early 1990s with small roles in television series, commercials and movies. She is best known for parts in "Girl, Interrupted," "Clueless" and "8 Mile." Her on-screen work had lessened of late, but Murphy's voice gave life to numerous animated characters, including Luanne Platter on more than 200 episodes of Fox's "King of the Hill" and Gloria the penguin in the 2006 feature "Happy Feet."

The shooting began around 1:30 p.m., Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said at a news conference. He said all the casualties took place at the base's Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers who are about to be deployed or who are returning undergo medical screening.

U.S. officials identified the gunman as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan (AKA Maj. Nadal Malik Hasan, Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan), an Army psychiatrist who had been promoted to major in May. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, R-Texas, said military officials told her that the gunman, who was 39 or 40, was about to be deployed to Iraq and was “upset about it.” Hasan was shot four times and is in serious condition under military guard.

Hasan was born in Virginia to parents who immigrated from Jordan. He received a degree in biochemistry from Virginia Tech. In 2007 Virginia Tech was the site of the deadliest peacetime massacre by a single gunman in United States history. Tech student Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and wounded many others before committing suicide.

Little was known about the three soldiers suspected of taking part in the attack. One soldier used two handguns, Cone said. It was not clear if the gunman had stopped to reload.

(AP London) Liverpool co-owner George Gillett is set to sell his stake in the Premier League club to Saudi Arabian sports investment vehicle F6, according to the company's managing director Gassim Hamidaddin.

Gillett and fellow American owner Tom Hicks have endured a troubled relationship since buying Liverpool in 2007 and with the club apparently struggling to raise finances the former is ready to sell at least a portion of his stake.

F6 official Hamidaddin told Reuters: "We have not reached a final agreement yet ... We are discussing how much 25% or 50% in Liverpool will be worth."

Saudi prince Faisal bin Fahad bin Abdullah al-Saud, who chairs F6, was at Anfield to watch Liverpool's 6-1 thrashing of Hull City on Saturday, and said after the match that he was "close" to buying a stake in the Reds. Prince Faisal said the deal could "be worth £200 million to £350 million" but Hamidaddin said these figures "were not 100 percent accurate".

Regardless of the final amount, if the deal goes through it would provide a huge cash boost for Liverpool. Lack of funds means plans to build a new stadium in Stanley Park have been shelved and manager Rafael Benitez has reportedly fallen out with the board over his transfer budget on more than one occasion.

Billed by McCain as bearing "a message of reform and public integrity," Sarah Palin is currently under investigation herself. A few weeks ago, a bipartisan panel of Alaska state legislators appointed an independent investigator to look into charges that Palin abused her office. In mid-July she fired the Alaska public safety commissioner, allegedly after he refused to dismiss her former brother-in-law, a state trooper who divorced Palin's sister three years ago and was locked in a custody dispute over their child. In 1996, Palin demanded certain books, at her discretion, should be banned from the Wasilla public library. When Palin was unable to convince the chief librarian, she fired her. From 2003 to June 2005, Palin served as one of three directors of "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.". On July 29, 2008 Ted Stevens was indicted by a federal grand jury on seven counts of money laundering.

As Mayor of the town of Wasilla (population 7,000) Palin, who portrays herself as a fiscal conservative, racked up nearly $20 million in long-term debt as mayor of the tiny town of Wasilla "that amounts to $3,000 per resident." The town of Wasilla filed for bankruptcy protection in 2001. She argued that the debt was needed to fund improvements. Palin had already increased taxes by 18% leading critics to label her a "borrow and spend Republican."

As Governor of Alaska, Palin cut Alaska's funding for special needs children by 60%. As a Ted Steven supporter, Palin supported the "Bridge to Nowhere". Palin ran for governor on a "build-the-bridge" platform, attacking "spinmeisters" for insulting local residents by using the term "Bridge to Nowhere."In October 2006, she stated that she favored building the bridges "sooner rather than later."

Critics of Sarah Palin are concerned by her anti-American views. From 1978 through 1996, Palin and her husband Todd were members of the secessionist Alaska Independence Party. While attending the Alaska Independence Party convention, Palin said in a televised speech "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions". Later in the speech, Palin said "The fires of Hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government."

Palin's credentials are based essentially around her "family values". Despite advocating "abstinence only" sex education, Palin's 15 year old daughter, Bristol Palin is pregnant, leading to claims of hypocrisy. Palin has stated that she believes in no birth control (not even for married couples), abstinence-only sex education and no abortion under any circumstance, including rape, incest or where the mother's life is in danger. Palin supports a constitutional amendment to ban abortion under and has said that she would sign an executive order overturning 'Roe vs. Wade' in her first day in office.

Sarah Palin has been criticized by moderates as a religious extremist who pushed for Creationism to be taught in schools. Palin does not believe in evolution and believes that the Earth is only 5000 years old. During an interview with the Anchorage Daily News two years ago Sarah Palin said:

God made dinosaurs 4,000 years ago as ultimately flawed creatures, lizards of Satan really, so when they died and became petroleum products we, made in his perfect image, could use them in our pickup trucks, snow machines and fishing boats.

In relation to the environment, Palin has a track record of putting Alaskan big oil interests ahead of the environment. Palin does not believe in global warming. Palin has also outraged animal rights activists by supporting the aerial hunting of bears, wolves and eagles. Palin supports slant oil drilling in the Alaskan wilderness and supports mining companies who have depleted the salmon population and increased the toxicity of the rivers and streams.

In terms of foreign policy experience, Palin has none. Palin, who was a sportscaster for a local NBC station in Alaska, does not own a passport and has never left the United States.

(AP) Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the presumptive 2008 Republican Party nominee for Vice President of the United States, attended the Alaskan Independence Party's 2000 secessionist convention while she was still mayor of Wasilla.

Lynnette Clark, the party's current chairwoman, also said that Palin attended the party's 1994 convention. Clark and other members confirmed that Palin was actually a member of the party in the mid-1990s.

Palin recorded a message welcoming party members to its 2008 convention as Governor of Alaska.

Critics are concerned that Sarah Palin is a secessionist who backs Alaskan independence and harbors anti-American views.
